Rana Sabbagh is the mother of investigative journalism in Middle East. She started ARIJ ten years ago. It has, during her leadership, against all odds developed into one of the largest investigative organizations in the world. Hundreds of journalists in the Arab countries have been trained and conducted investigative projects under her direction. Rana continues to challenge power in a war-torn region where freedom of expression is extinguished, and where journalists are harassed, beaten and jailed.
