Military conflict in Donbass triggered the information war. Especially the many refugees from Lugansk and Donetsk became a subject of media propaganda both in Russia and in Ukraine.
Russia promised to support the refugees on a state level. The Kaliningrad journalist Anastasia Drozdova decided to investigate if local authorities really provide refugees with promised help. To find out, she needed help from Ukraine. On a conference for investigative journalism in Kyiv she met the Ukrainian journalist Tetiana Rykhtyn, who was rescued from Crimea short after the Russian annexation. Together they investigated what happened to the refugees and found a totally different picture compared to the official version.
For their colleagues in Gräv 2016 they will tell about the difficulties and possibilities of an cross border investigation over a border of war.
